Acerola

Acerola

The acerola cherry grows in Middle America in the Antilles, as well as in tropical areas of South America. In Europe, the fruit is called “Indian cherry” because of its appearance. Acerola has a smooth surface and mellow pulp and its sour taste comes from the high vitamin C content.

The acerola fruit has one of the highest levels of vitamin C. On Average 100 g mature acerola fruits have a natural vitamin C amount of 1,700 mg. In comparison, 100 g orange juice has only 50 mg vitamin C. Furthermore, acerola cherries are rich in pro-vitamin A, vitamin B1 and B2, niacin, proteins, iron, phosphorus and calcium. Acerola also reinforces the immune system and encourages physical vitality, so is ideally suited to satisfy vitamin C needs and protect against infection throughout the winter.
